Southgate Children's Academy (SCA) was established in August 2002 by
a small group of parents and teachers with extensive experience in management and early childhood education. SCA is
proud to be an independent, locally owned and operated school with an emphasis on the development of a strong sense of community.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality care possible for children ages 6 weeks to preschool. Our philosophy
is that children learn best through play, within the framework of a loving, nurturing environment.
SCA has a very active parent organization, Southgate Children's Academy Parent's
Association (SCAPA) because we believe that parent participation and collaboration is vital to our success.
We're extremely proud of the fact that many of our referrals come from existing and past families, and we have many families
with multiple children enrolled. An extensive parent reference list is always available.
SCAPA hosts the
school's annual Family Picnic, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Fall Fest. SCAPA meetings are held monthly at the school
on the first Thursday of each month, with participation and representation from the ownership and management of SCA in order
to provide outstanding communication and an open forum for the discussion of suggestions and ideas. SCAPA also takes
an active role in welcoming and supporting new families.
SCA also sponsors an annual Spring Egg Hunt, Mother's
Day Tea, Father's Day Celebration, Week of the Young Child, a monthly Parents Night Out, and other special events in an effort
to realize our goal of offering an environment where friendships are encouraged and fostered between children, our families
and staff.
