Extracurricular Activities
In addition to our regular pre-planned daily curriculum and schedule,
SCA offers six different additional on-site enrichment
programs. Spanish, Art, Music, and Kid Fit are included with tuition fees, and gymnastics and computer skills
are available with an additional weekly fee.
SPANISH
- All preschoolers who attend school on Thursdays participate in the Spanish
program. The goal of the program is to introduce the Spanish language by learning colors, months and days
of the week, numbers, basic words and songs, all assisted by our fluent bilingual teacher's fun puppet assistant Pedro!
ART - In addition to art projects done in each classroom,
dedicated Art classes are provided for all Toddler II and preschool classes two Mondays each month. The goal of the
Art program is to introduce the children to various art forms and tools, and to use art to enhance and reinforce our
weekly and monthly curriculum themes. In Art class, children might paint a still life of sunflowers in the style of
Van Gogh, paint on their backs like Michelangelo did, or create their own custom stepping stone!
MUSIC - Offered two Fridays of each month, this program is provided
by Music-N-Motion, an innovative program designed to get children moving and having a blast through the use of music,
instruments, and a variety of equipment such as parachutes, balls, ribbons, bean bags and more. KID
FIT - Offered the alternate two Fridays to our Music program, Kid Fit is designed to
promote healthy lifestyle habits in toddler and preschool children. The program incorporates exercise and fitness activities
including aerobics, dance, stretching, gross motor skills and balance, developmentally appropriate for each age group. Our
goal is to challenge and engage each student. This class is taught by an individual who has a degree in early
childhood education and is combining her love of being a mom with her passion for exercise and staying
fit and healthy.
GYMNASTICS - This class is a fun and creative approach to building physical fitness, coordination and positive self esteem.
Children ages 2 1/2 and up are introduced to the basics of gymnastics in a non-competitive environment.
One
of more of the following components is the focus each week: tumbling, balance beam, junior swing bar, mini trampoline
or spring board, junior vault, parachute or ribbon wands.
Classes are taught each Wednesday from 10 - 10:45
a.m. Tuition is $48 per month with an annual $40 registration fee. Children may join or cancel at any time.
COMPUTERS - Gigglebytes is designed for children ages 2 and
up to help your child develop mouse skills and learn to use computer equipment appropriately, through fun games and software.
Gigglybytes is offered every Tuesday. Tuition is $8.50 per week, with a $8 registration fee.
